Cheers to Noroc
Packaging Project - during placement in Romania.
The aim of this project was to design beverage packaging intended for the high-end Romanian market in the town of Brasov. The design consists of an inner glass bottle and a glossy outer plastic shell.
- With poor quality roads, long transportation distances and often a low quality packaging processes, the outer plastic shell is designed to increase protection for the product when in transit while also giving a unique and desirable aesthetic.
- Due to the cold weather in Brasov and the natives tenancy to continue to drink outside in beer gardens during the colder months, the outer shell is intended to protect the consumers hands from low temperatures. Brasov is home to the largest and most reputable ski resort in Romania and this temperature conscious design lends itself towards the après-ski market.
- The plastic casing can be easily attached and removed to help separate the outer plastic from the inner glass for recycling.
- Often beverage bottles are stored outside or in unhygienic locations before being put on display ready for sale. Romanians tend to pour the drink into a glass because of this. Traditionally Romanians pour their beverage to the bottom of the glass without tilting, this can often mean a large head and wasted beer. The bottle design has a larger top to decrease the chance of water completely covering the opening, this in-turn decreasing the chances of glugging which allows for a smoother pour and decreases the chances of excessive foaming.
